The South Bendigo Football Club was formed in 1893 at a meeting held at the Union Hotel situated in Golden Square. The name and colours were chosen because at the time South Melbourne were a prominent Victorian Football Team who wore the red and white colours.
A Junior football section was established in the mid-1960’s which has produced many fine footballers over the years including a number who have gone on to AFL success.
In 1991 the club introduced a netball division and in 1999 the club became known as the SOUTH BENDIGO FOOTBALL NETBALL Club Inc.
In 2013 the club officially merged into a single identity incorporating Juniors, Seniors, and Netball in all governances and financial areas.
In 2015, the Club introduced junior netball. Players from 9 to 18 years of age compete in the Bendigo Strathdale Netball Association (BSNA) Winter Competition.
